* Hello - when reading please be aware that some links may be affiliate links meaning that I get a little bit back if you choose to buy. The only time it is likely to affect your purchase is when I am able to offer a discount link - for example, you get 15% off an order and so do I. Thank you. *
For example, I use an electric toothbrush. Now in one way this is better as the handle is reusable and the amount of plastic waste when I dispose of the head is less than a standard toothbrush. However, I am going on holiday shortly and can’t take my electric toothbrush. I had a quick look in the shops and ALL alternative toothbrushes were plastic. So I hit the internet and have ordered myself a Bamboo toothbrush * to try. There are so many choices, and I confess that for my first one, I have gone with one of the cheapest I could find on eBay * to try it out, mainly because it won’t be my main toothbrush. This is the one I’ve ordered * - it cost £1.79.

When we go on holiday we are only taking a cabin bag with us, so we need to be aware of what we can and can’t take with us. Obviously liquids being the main sticking point here, I’ve had a look around at some toothpaste alternatives.
I don’t feel quite ready to tackle toothpaste tablets just yet, so I’ve opted for ‘truthpaste’ - toothpaste in a reusable glass jar, which looks to be a bit similar to what I’m used to.

The best price I found was on the website www.andkeep.com * who were offering a 15% discount to celebrate ‘Plastic Free July’. They have also given me a code to share with you giving you 15% discount on your first order * and gives me 15% off my next order when you order.
Also to go in my travel bag are some Shampoo Bars. I bought a Shampoo bar a little while ago, and decided I would wait until I had used all of the shampoo in my plastic bottle before opening it - you know, to save waste. However, before I got the chance, hubby decided he would open it thinking it was just a standard bar of soap. So I never got to really try it.
On Instagram I follow @I_love_freebie and so when they had an offer of free shampoo bars * to try, I jumped at it. They arrived yesterday and I am looking forward to giving them a try - they smell amazing!
And they will be a fabulous addition to my travel bag. Not only does it mean I don't have to worry about customs and their liquid limits, there will be no chance of arriving on holiday to a shampoo soaked suitacse.
I've got a few more switches to look at, although I am so far pretty happy. Looking forward to testing everything out. What switches have you made? Have you got any zero-waste travel hacks? Please share below.
